The ideal English to Spanish translation : How correct does it need to be?

Today, Spanish is the fourth most spoken language in the world after Chinese, Hindi, and English, putting English to Spanish translation at maximum importance. Unfortunately, many people are of the opinion that these translations do not have to be perfect, as long as effort was put into trying to reach the Spanish speaking public. They hire the cheapest translator they can find, and wipe their hands of the issue. This is absolutely not the right approach.

Here are four reasons why English to Spanish translation needs to be as correct as possible:

1.Ease of mistranslation

It is very easy to mistranslate in English to Spanish translation, so it is a requirement to have a professional translation in order to avoid embarrassing mistakes or mis-comprehensions. If you translate something incorrectly, or are unaware of the nuances of a certain word or phrase, you could lose a lot of profits on the lost Spanish speaking customers who will not understand why they need your product or worse, be offended.

2. Respect

Imagine if you were working closely with someone from a foreign country and they grossly mistranslated a document into English. This would look unprofessional and like they didn’t have the respect to hire a quality translator to work on the documents for them. It is the same with English to Spanish translation. Not just anyone can do it, it requires a professional.

3. Reaching the right audience

Again, if an ad or a text has an incorrect translation, the entire point is missed. Why put money and effort into a translation if you are not going to hire a qualified translator?

4. Your bottom line

In the USA, Spanish speakers represent almost a third of the population. If you do not provide them with accurate English to Spanish translation, you are missing out on a huge chunk of consumers. It is not financially intelligent to forget about this entire group of people.

If you want to show respect, reach the right audience, and profit, make sure all of your English to Spanish translations are accurate and well done. If you do this, you will watch your business and customer base grow exponentially. How will you make sure that you have the best possible Spanish translation?
